Table Runner Test

I've been working on a new table runner this week and today I am trying out different layouts for the blocks.  I cut into some beautiful Amy Butler Soul Blossoms fabrics and added a couple other things and here is what I came up with.
Without sashing.

With sashing.

Another view.

So what do you think?  Sashing or no?  I am leaning towards the sashing (big surprise there - I LOVE white backgrounds/sashing!)  I just think it makes it all work.  It gives your eye a place to rest amongst all the color and pattern.

The Christmas table runner is almost finished, but this project has been a nice change from the Christmas theme.  I was needing a little break from the red and green!

Christmas Mug Rug Swap

What's been going on here?  Well, I have finished my two dresdens for the ORBC.  I still need to make them into pillow covers, though so no photos yet.
I have been working on the Christmas table runner - it is not quite done.  Still have to finish the binding.  So no photos yet.
I was in the Christmas round for the Scrappy Mug Rug Swap on Flickr and I DO have photos of that!

I made this little mug rug for my partner, Carol.  Like me, she loves bright colors on white, so that made it easy for me to decide on something to make for her.

Here is the back.
I also included some fat quarters and buttons in a red organza bag for her.

And would you look at all the stuff she sent to me?  Not only the cute mug rug, but a load of other festive Christmas goodies!! Fabric, trims, hot chocolate and two patterns!!! Thanks for a fun swap, Carol.

Now.  What to sew next? ? ?  Oh, and I better take some photos of the other stuff! LOL.

Mini Quilts

I love mini quilts, mug rugs, doll quilts, etc.  They are so much fun to make.  It's a great way to learn new techniques and to express your self creatively.  Amylouwho  is having a fun little mini quilt linky party - so hop on over there and check everyone out!!  I heard about it from DeeRoo.

I have been working on Christmas mug rugs this weekend.  One is for a swap, so I can't show you that one, but this one is for ME!  Just finished it tonight, so the pic is a little dark - sorry, but I wanted to share it.
It's about 7 X 9 inches, and we plan on hanging it on the fridge!  Are you in the holiday mood yet?  I am trying to get there - I need to sew more stuff . . .

Dresdens!

The Old Red Barn Company Quilt Along has started up a new round and it's dresdens!  Pretty pointy dresdens.  Some folks are making quilts, some are making pillows, but it's all good fun and we are learning something new.  Check out the Flickr group to see what we've been up to.  All the old rounds are still there, too for you to follow if you'd like.
